呂仁茶社話推理

　　H. R. F. 基亭（H. R. F. Keating, 1926-2011）這個名字，我想推理迷朋友都略知一二，他本身小說評論雙修，推理傳教士詹宏志在編選「謀殺專門店」時，一來選了他的《果鐵警探打破蛋》，二來也不時引用基亭的意見來為選書方向背書，說基亭也選這本如何如何。基亭選了一百本推理小說，從1845的愛倫坡開始，到1986年P. D. James《死亡的滋味》共計100本，這份書單是收錄在他的《Crime and Mystery: The 100 Best Books》這本書之中，本書前有兩頁派翠西亞‧海史密斯的序，三頁作者引言，並對於每一本書為何上榜，提供兩頁的說明。本書首次出版於1986年，我手邊的版本則是1996年的二版。

 

　　大家選書標準不一，詹宏志的謀殺專門店選「經典」，Nick Rennison、Richard Shephard選「必讀」，衛報（Guardian）也是選「必讀」，而基亭選的是「最佳」，何謂「最佳」絕對沒有標準，不過既然是基亭選的，那應該就是他心目中最佳的囉！另外，基亭頗為自謙，並沒有選入自己的作品。補充說明一下，由於書名是《Crime and Mystery: The 100 Best Books》，不該單翻最佳「犯罪」小說，我覺得以東方用詞「推理」較為妥切。最後感謝推理迷怪人補充，也歡迎其他讀友繼續補充抓漏喔！
