呂仁茶社話推理

  　　1989年，志文出版社出版了《迷你偵探傑作精選》（一）、（二）兩集，收錄艾勒里．昆恩所編選的極短篇推理小說，原書名為《Ellery Queen's Minimysteries》，應該大都是從過往的《艾勒里．昆恩推理雜誌》（Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine, EQMM）選輯而來。眾所周知，推理小說必須要有一定的篇幅來設局，要篇幅多短那是很困難的。若要寫極短篇，是必要運用許多作者與讀者間早已建立的默契才行，如此才可能精簡篇幅，也因為困難，所以每篇都彌足珍貴，儘管已絕版，還是值得讀者找來一讀。本篇文章提供收錄篇目，並在文末提供我的小發現。

[ 編寫說明]
　　提供原文篇名、中文篇名、作者原名、以及通用作者譯名，以及原收錄於《艾勒里．昆恩推理雜誌》的年月。要注意的是，EQMM收錄該篇作品不見得是該篇作品首度發表，收錄在早期EQMM的小說常是已在其他刊物登載過的，以安娜．凱瑟琳．格林的〈藍漆之謎〉而言，收錄在1951年一月號，但這篇作品早在1889年就發表過了。所謂通用作者譯名是指現在我們所熟知的作者譯名，原書當然也有作者譯名，不過是簡略的翻法，如John Dickson Carr譯作J．D．卡爾，四女傑之一的瑪格麗．艾林翰（Margery Allingham）譯作M．雅林罕。以通用作者譯名來表示，可以避免一位作者出現多個譯名。若該作者沒有比較通用的譯名，那保留原名，我就不多事強加譯名了。

[ 小發現 ]
　　志文出版社的兩本《迷你偵探傑作精選》，共收錄67個故事，看我卻注意到，英文版的《Ellery Queen's minimysteries》有個副標題為「70 short-short stories of crime, mystery, and detection」，怎麼會有70個故事呢？我又去算日文版的《ミニ．ミステリ傑作選》，也只有67個故事，加上志文版的譯者為鍾肇政先生，他受日本教育長大，譯作多為日文作家，所以合理推論志文版是根據日文版所譯來，若為如此，那自然日文版少幾篇，中文版就少幾篇了 。

　　少三篇的原因無從考究，不過既然有少三篇，那當然得找出少了哪三篇，對照的結果，少了Fredric Brown的〈Town Wanted〉、康乃爾．伍立奇的〈Somebody on the Phone〉與喬治．西默農的〈The Little House at Crois-Rousse〉。
